I am getting close to that realistic look i am going for! The cliff walls around the city floor are Blender procedural material that combines a wave texture, image texture and a color ramp with about 30 color transitions.

I went through what seemed like hundreds of settings until i settled on what you see here.

The flat grey areas are where the building will eventually be.
